Wide Awake Films
США
Добавлен 2 янв 2008
Wide Awake Films was founded in 1999 with a passion for documentary storytelling.
It began with war stories, capturing the drama of sweeping events. We wanted to present these historic conflicts with fresh substance for new viewers. Such early films became the foundation for all that was to come. They fostered in us a respect for truth-seeking and a desire to honor those who cannot speak for themselves.
From there, we began applying our practice to all different kinds of subject matter, recognizing the common need for people to spread powerful and clear messages. We told stories of small organizations and Fortune 500 companies alike, earning many awards in the process, but always staying committed to our founding roots.

The Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1864
This where they we're supposed to FIX BAYONET AND CHARGE!
Be Gentlemen Gentlemen! You don't repsent. Nobody but you're self respect
NOTHING FRIENDLY ABOUT FRIENDLY FIRE.
One day the truth of this war will be told. For beginners lets start with how the two armies were built. In the north there were many willing to fight but for different reasons. The worst of it were the New York draft riots, a Confederate intelligence operation run out of Canada. Now in the South only rich, influential land/slave owners were willing to fight, some not so ambitious but still supported the war. The poor, uneducated of the south were manipulated by religious zealoism, lies and force.
Excellent upload! I just subscribed to your channel. 👍🏻
"Unless under the protection of breastworks,... eradicating this evil. " He sounds like he's still made at Joe Johnson's battle strategy
I don't think invading Pennsylvania was defensive. They were on Northern soil
Talk about mass decimation & hell on earth😒 Pickett's Charge's a clear cut case of both in spades
I walked Pickett's Charge years ago with several pals when we went there to visit the battlefield . Walking the near mile from Seminary to Cemetery Ridges filled me with senses of dread & sorrow bc in taking each forward step, there was at least one or a number of Confederate soldiers who were killed all the way up to the stone wall & the copse of trees yonder😔😒
Grew up in Manassas. The stone house (Henry House) is still there. Most of the battlefield is still there and preserved. You can see how the battle played out just standing on the ground. I highly recommend anyone interested to visit. One of the best preserved battlefields from the war.
I've yet to find a video of this event that is non biased.
Springfield was in a bad spot and not staunchly pro union as you say. Just because Springfield was not guarded constantly by the state guard who had plenty to do, allowed the union to camp there but didnt make the majority of the citizens union. People in that area preferred to not mention which side they were on. Many of them switched after what Lincoln did. The union would stop by a house and take the males for their side. The confederates would do the same. The mayor of Springfield had to duplicate the ferry boat operation on the movie The Outlaw Josey Wales (real name Bill Wilson), and pretend to be on the side of whichever side came to town. Many brothers ended up on opposite sides. Technically, the civil war had already started in Missouri due to the Missouri/Kansas border war in the 1850's. Many dont think about Missouri and Kansas being the actual start of the war prior to secession of the states.
I made them mad at Wilsons Creek museum and was told to leave. I asked why they had false information that stated Missouri was not part of the Confederacy. I told them the real history while several people were listening. Lincoln told the Missouri governor that Missouri could remain neutral. Lincoln then sent federal troops to St Louis and they killed many citizens. Lincoln then sent troops to the state capitol of Jefferson City. The governor and other voted in officials fled to SW Missouri. Lincoln appointed his own chosen governor and officials to control the state. This was unconstitutional since they were not voted in by the people. The governor sent a message to Jefferson Davis from Neosho, Mo. requesting to join the Confederacy and Missouri became the 12th star on the Confederate flag. Kentucky shortly later became the 13th due to similar actions from Lincoln. The Wilsons Creek associate turned red and asked me to leave after a few of the crowd told me thanks for telling the truth. Lincoln knew the whole time that he had to cut off the Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio rivers from the confederacy and had lied to both Missouri and Kentucky about it being ok to remain neutral. Before long, they will have the union winning the battle. Its sad how our government is operating. The confederates had to send supplies up the White River to Forsyth, Mo. which only allowed smaller boats and was a long twisty river journey.
Damn near got runned over by the Calvary. No body said that was a staging ground. All I heard charge, and here come the horses. Oh shit! Might wanna get the fudge outta the way!😂
THAT'S BADASS! YOU AUTTA SEE THE BATTLE OF RESACA.
Franklin shows what the power of one man can do When that one man is added to an entire army -- it can decimate another entire army When that one man is the leader of that other army And that one man loses sight of who he's fighting
Toured the Confederate Missouri grave sites in the Confederate Cemetary at Franklin a couple years ago. Paid my respects. Not far from the antebellum home at Franklin. Most Missourians were fighting the union invaders in their home State.
Very fine presentation - I think it still holds up very well ! This battle has always been difficult to categorize historically. It easily offends old rivals and frays the nerves of many discussion groups. Northerners initially thought this a great, healthy Confederate army, ready to march on and lay siege to Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo. Lee and Johnston needed a diversionary force to take pressure off Virginia and likely saw this as, at best, a necessary, but secondary theatre of war. William T. Sherman wouldn't follow Bell Hood into Tennessee and the Union relied on Thomas and Schofield to repel him. Maybe the last, glorious thrust north to the Ohio for The Cause, but the rebs were, in fact, ragged, hungry, worn down and commanded by one - 'Old Wooden Head' - who fought boldly, but didn't think wisely ...🤔
Good video except for the guy with a full beard.
Damn Yankees! Two of my 2x grandfathers rode with Forrest! \X\
Interesting that people from Missouri are to blame for Topeka having such a hostile attitude toward common decency.
very well done!
you can keep the stupid ad from old poopy pants Joe Biden off the video!
Glory to the gallant sailors of the Confederacy!
Who won the American Civil War?
'Wilsons creek, treated them rough"...........anyone recognise this ??????
Over 100 million brave soldiers died during the Battle of Fort Sumter.
I was a participant in the reenactment protrayed here! This was made originally in August 1991. I marched with Holmes Brigade U.S. Volunteers.
28:46 Elias and Rebecca Short are my great, great, great, grandparents. Prior to the raid my grandfather moved all of his cattle to an adjacent farm and hid all of his firearms behind the wall boards of their home..the rebels kidnapped a couple of their children and were going to hold them overnight in their camp while Elias paced the floors of the house not knowing where they were being taken... they changed their mind and released them. Funny story, he also threw a crab apple at Sterling Price as he bent over and hit him right in the ass with it. The story goes is that for a split second Price thought that he'd been shot lmao..true story. They were originally from Tennessee and grandpa Short served in the Tennessee militia before they settled in Missouri.
You completely ignore the extreme efforts and sacrifice of St. Louis’ Republicans and German immigrants. The state remained in the Union at great cost. It’s also pretty sad that you refer to “the party of slavery” without calling it by its name: The Democratic Party. If you’re not going to tell the story honestly, it’s NOT history. It’s interesting to note that in the squatting, anarchy, political violence, voter fraud and its sense of ownership over other humans, that Democrat Party hasn’t changed a bit. There were good, God fearing anti slavery people in Missouri. They were called Republicans!
Southern soldiers fighting in the South against Northern invaders. Guess what. The South was right. Now we have an intrusive Federal government ignoring the Constitution and our needs. Abetting foreign invasion, a cartel of war mongers, and those who don’t care about our country.
Reconsider your settings and let us put this video in a slideshow for educational purposes.
Missouri hasn't changed still one of the most racist states
Death will find many, sooner than they might think. The grace gospel for salvation 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 and read Ephesians 2:8-9. try to use KJV.
If I can't get a good call of duty revolutionary war game the least I want is to participate in one of these
We really enjoyed this .
It is shame that the presentation starts with she factory myth. That factory was at Hanover and the confeds knew it.
10:00
If only Stevensons Division was on the field.
Never would have been a war had the north not invaded the South or been carrying on an economic war for over 20 years against the south. That war was no more about slavery than the war in Iraq was a war about weapons of mass destruction.

It is a myth that Hood took Laudanum . Eric Jacobson author of two books on the Battle of Franklin found that not one person that knew Hood ever saw him take Laudanum. The myth was traced to a 1964 Magazine article with no evidence to back it up. It was just speculation. The night that Schofield snuck past Spring Hill Hood had ordered that road be blocked but the General that was assigned the task was ordered by another General to move east to link up with the rest of the units around Spring Hill. The unit moved a couple of hundred yards east of the road. If they hadn't moved the battle would have taken place at Spring Hill not Franklin. It is a good thing it did or my Gr Great Grandfather might have been killed in the 183rd Ohio Inf. on that road as his unit was the rear guard and I would not have been born.
My great grandfather x4 and his brother fought in this battle. My great uncle fell in one of the last bayonet charges that pushed the confederates back for good. My great grandfather was severely wounded, and it took days before they were found together, and were buried together also. A freeman from the south, was helping out with the wounded & food, and he noticed the grave had life to it, my great grandfather x4 was still alive, his name was Calvin Faye Jones, such a tragic tale. He was soon discharged, and re joined for one year later on. He was originally 36th Illinois infantry
There was a Noah West Point Missouri you must be referring to a Westport Missouri which is part of Kansas City now
There would be no United states
Good job!
I’m proud to be a Missourian
The Rebels did not go in to Gettysburg for shoes. That is an old story that has been disproven many times.
Yup. It's an urban myth. Gettysburg was already picked clean for anything useful about a month ago by the CSA. And there were certainly never a store of shoes there...
The South was never a country. United States was always the only country
